I was originally drawn to the field of counseling as a career, because I have witnessed many times the devastating effect that mental health struggles can have on individuals and their loved ones. From a young age, I knew that somehow I wanted to help others to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem problems, suicidal thoughts, grief, self-harm, relationship issues, and life transitions. My goal in therapy is to create a safe space where my clients can work through the difficulties in life without judgement. I also believe in teaching tangible skills and exercises that allow clients to continue their growth outside of our sessions.

I began delivering DBT as a clinical practicum student while completing my Master of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. During my immersive practicum experience, I learned how to administer DBT treatment with adults, adolescents and their families, and began practicing DBT skills myself, as well. I witnessed the transformative faculties of DBT to aid my clients in healing relationships and stepping into their power to be able to not only manage their emotions, but to use them to build lives that feel worth living.
Kris accepts UHC, Medicare, SSM Medica & Cigna, and self pay rate.

Life happens, therapy helps.
In spite of our best efforts, sometimes, things just don’t work out in the way we hope they will. When that happens, it can be deeply unsettling. In spite of our best efforts, sometimes, things just don’t work out in the way we hope they will. When that happens, it can be deeply unsettling. Well-meaning friends and family may encourage us to get over it or to look for the bright side of these events, but that rarely helps. Other times, there isn’t even a clear reason for it, but you know you’re struggling and not feeling like your usual self. Whether there’s an obvious cause or there isn’t, therapy can make all the difference.
The decision to seek out therapy can feel overwhelming and scary. It’s my goal to create a space for you that feels safe and friendly without the fear of judgment. I invite my clients to be their fully authentic selves and I do the same. I accomplish this by taking a creative and curious approach to counseling with a healthy dose of humor, when appropriate.
I am passionate about helping my clients to explore and navigate the “hard stuff” in their lives.
Amber accepts Aetna & Cigna, and self pay rate.
DBT Connects is a state-wide, online, DBT therapist consultation team.
The reason is to connect practitioners and clients to DBT.
This means a therapist can stay in their own practice while providing DBT
and join the team to help provide DBT to fidelity.
What exactly is involved?
Clinical growth:
The team aims to support each therapist where they are and help them expand their skills. What training do you do need to start the team?
No formal training required. *Training will be encouraged and supported throughout.
Training:
While there is no formal training that is required to be apart of this team, it is always helpful to receive an introductory training to DBT. Joining the team and starting with clients individually are two (2) separate elements, options for trainings are increasing.
Check Out DBTMO.org
BehaviorTech now has online trainings for different level trainers.
Advanced training require a DBT mentor which Rachael Livasy, LPC has been approved for.
Certification:
Becoming a Linehan Board Certified Clinician requires multiple steps. Certification is an “involved assessment to demonstrate the application of knowledge to the performance and delivery of the treatment”.
Requirements to pass:
Consultation:
The team will provide significant support. In addition, Rachael Livasy is a nationally certified DBT Clinician and can provide individual consultation on a regular or as needed basis to any therapist. Other advanced DBT providers are available to provide consultation to each other who are a part of the team.
An effective DBT Consultation team provides each therapist with:
The Dialectic: maintain your autonomy AND collaborate with clinicians
The dialectic of course is that there will be roles that are independently facilitated by each therapist, including their individual sessions, coaching calls and documentation.
*Coaching calls are also shared with skills group leaders to those who are in the skills class.
The shared responsibilities will include consultation team roles (within each weekly meeting) and skills class facilitator role. The skills class leaders are filled positions, however, the team responsibility is to ensure coverage to maintain the classes. This will allow for each clinician to share the group facilitator role while also balancing their schedules.
A little note on privacy:
HIPAA will be strongly enforced with this team. Authorization forms and informed consent policies will be reviewed and implemented consistently.
When can I start?
Schedule a time to meet with the team leader prior to joining. You can join a meeting anytime to see if it is a good fit for you!
Every Friday: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
