Depression preoccupies our mind with past stress.
Anxiety preoccupies our mind with future stress.
Both disconnect us from the present moment. While anxiety and depression manifest oppositely in the body and mind, they’re similar because they take us away from our lives. We have both the tools and resources to help alleviate the every day experiences with anxiety/depression; while also understanding if there are any roots from your past that are contributing.
Feel powerless to your feelings? Feel stuck in pain unable to move through?
Often when people are born experiencing a sensitivity to emotions they find themselves overwhelmed by intense emotion and may react without thinking. In addition, people often receive feedback that "you're too sensitive", "it's not that big of a deal" or "Why aren't you over that yet?".
Emotion Dysregulation creates a conflict between avoiding emotions or being flooded by them. Everyone finds ways to cope with powerful painful emotions. Unfortunately, the most relieving actions can be detrimental to a life worth living (i.e. suicidality, self-harm, substance use, reactivity/impulsivity, avoidance, disordered eating).
Want to find a way through your emotions to build a life worth living?
Adolescence is a unique time of life that can bring a lot of change and crises.
We have several options for teens and their families:
Comprehensive DBT provides a higher level of care to both teens and families. This modality helps reduce life threatening behaviors and "stuck" points or conflict at home.
Parents and caregivers? We have a program just for you! Check out our Empowering Parents Webcast that is FREE and self paced.
Exhaustion seems to be the norm. Cycling between constantly doing and moving to being unable to continue or feeling apathetic in your life. The highs and lows of stress disconnect us from a meaningful life. We can get stuck “moving” and doing that we aren’t present enough. Or we can collapse and feel stuck with the inability to do anything.
Stress can leave us with feeling overwhelmed easily, muscle tension, disrupted sleep, rumination, apathy, irritability, digestive and other physical ailments.
We can help you cultivate meaningful stillness, meaningful movement and ultimately meaningful balance in your life.
“It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol” Brené Brown
While the rest of the world seems to move on, it can feel like a part of you is stuck in the past unable to move forward. It can feel draining to carry that pain and move throughout your day. Especially when the pain can be invisible to others.
Experiences include: chronic overwhelm, reactivity, disrupted sleep, tension, anxiety, depression, avoidance, etc.
At Still Move Counseling, we see and understand your pain. We want to help you heal those memories.
Relationships can be complicated especially if you have had a difficult childhood. It is understandable that we can find ourselves repeating patterns that are unhelpful to our relationships.
While we may not specialize in couples therapy, we specialize in treating the individual within the relationship. Identifying core beliefs and wounds are essential first steps to creating meaningful change.
Our clinicians specialize in understanding attachment, attachment trauma, and survivors of abuse (narcissistic and domestic violence).
